Tutoring for the subject where setup matters most

Most physics students understand the concepts in class but freeze on multi-step problems. Our tutors teach the setup explicitly: what the question is asking, which model applies, and how to work through it, so unfamiliar problems stop being scary.

Courses covered

Physics units in SNC1W and SNC2D, plus SPH3U, SPH4U, and SPH4C.

Common entry point

Kinematics and forces in SPH3U. Everything later in the course builds on them.

Tutor background

Tutors from physics, engineering, and astrophysics programs at top Canadian universities.

Session format

1-on-1 online sessions covering theory, problem solving, and lab reports.

What we cover

Physics concepts and courses from middle school science through Grade 12.

Grades 6 to 8

  • Forces and motion
  • Energy and electricity
  • Light and sound

Why families choose Evolve for physics

Problem solving, not just theory

Physics requires knowing how to set up a problem, choose the right formula, and work through it step by step. Our tutors teach that process explicitly so students can handle questions they've never seen before, not just the ones they've practised.

Tutors with physics and engineering backgrounds

Our physics tutors come from programs like physics, engineering, and astrophysics at UofT, Waterloo, McMaster, and other top Canadian universities. They have the depth to explain why, not just how.

Kinematics to modern physics

From the basics of motion and forces in Grade 9 all the way through waves, electricity, and modern physics in SPH4U, we cover the full Ontario physics curriculum. No gaps.

Lab report support included

Physics labs are graded heavily in Ontario and the write-up is often where marks are lost. Our tutors help students understand data analysis, graphing, and how to structure a clear, accurate lab report.

How physics tutoring works

  1. Tell us what your child needs

Sign up and tell us the grade, the course, and what you want help with. It takes a few minutes.

  2. We match your child with a physics tutor

We pick a tutor who knows the course and works well with your child's grade level.

  3. Start with a free first session

Your child meets the tutor online for a full hour at no cost. No credit card, no commitment.

  4. Continue on a schedule that works

Most families book weekly sessions in the evening or on weekends, and add extra sessions before tests and exams.

Evelyn was a great tutor and made the material much easier to understand. She was patient, supportive, and explained things in a way that made sense. I felt more confident after working with her and would definitely recommend her.

My son took functions here when he was starting highschool. He had a great experience with Evolve Learning! Highly recommend!

Common questions about physics tutoring

What physics courses do you cover?

We cover the physics units in Grade 9 (SNC1W) and Grade 10 (SNC2D / SNC2P), as well as the dedicated physics courses in Grade 11 (SPH3U) and Grade 12 (SPH4U and SPH4C).

Physics formulas and problem solving: can you help with that?

Yes, and it's the most common thing students ask for. Most students understand the concepts reasonably well but freeze when they see a multi-step problem. Our tutors work through problem-solving strategies systematically so students know exactly how to approach a question, not just how to get the answer.

My child is struggling with SPH3U. Where do students typically fall behind?

Kinematics and forces are the two most common stumbling blocks in SPH3U. Students who don't fully lock in the kinematics unit early tend to struggle for the rest of the course because everything builds on it. We usually start by filling those gaps before moving to newer material.

Is SPH4U harder than SPH3U?

Yes, noticeably. SPH4U adds momentum, waves, electricity, and modern physics on top of everything from Grade 11. The math becomes more demanding too. Many students who managed SPH3U on their own find they need support in Grade 12, especially if they're aiming for a university science or engineering program.

Do you help with lab reports for physics?

Yes. Physics labs involve data analysis, graphing, calculating percent error, and drawing conclusions from experimental results. These are distinct skills from the theory, and our tutors help students understand what a strong lab report looks like.

Can you help a student who is good at math but still failing physics?

This comes up more than you'd think. Physics requires applying math in unfamiliar contexts, reading problems carefully, and understanding the physical meaning behind equations. Students who are strong in math but weak in physics usually need help bridging the conceptual side, not more math practice.
