Why families choose Evolve for French
Core French and French Immersion
Whether your child takes Core French once a day or attends a full French Immersion program, we have tutors who can support them at the right level. Immersion support in particular is hard to find — we have it.
Grammar that actually makes sense
French grammar trips up almost every English-speaking student at some point. Our tutors teach the underlying rules rather than drilling exceptions, so students can apply what they learn to new sentences they've never seen before.
Oral skills and conversation practice
Oral tasks carry real weight in Ontario French grades and most students don't get enough speaking practice outside the classroom. Sessions can be run partly or fully in French, at whatever level your child is comfortable with.
Patient tutors who remember learning French
Learning a second language is genuinely hard and students often feel embarrassed making mistakes. Our tutors create a relaxed environment where your child can practise without pressure and build real confidence over time.
Common questions about French tutoring
Do you help with both Core French and French Immersion?
Yes. We work with students in both Core French and French Immersion programs. Immersion students typically need more intensive support since they are working in French across multiple subjects, and we have tutors who are comfortable teaching at that level.
My child struggles with French grammar. Can you help?
Grammar is the most common reason families come to us for French. Verb conjugations, gender agreement, sentence structure — our tutors break these down clearly and build them up gradually so students stop guessing and start understanding the rules.
Can you help with French conversation and oral skills?
Yes. A significant part of French grades in Ontario comes from oral communication: speaking tasks, presentations, and listening comprehension. Our tutors practice conversation, pronunciation, and oral responses with students in a low-pressure setting.
Do you cover Grade 12 Core French (FSF4U)?
Yes. FSF4U is the most demanding Core French course and is the one students need for university programs that require French. Our tutors help with the writing components, oral tasks, and reading comprehension that make up most of the grade.
My child is in French Immersion but falls behind in English. Can you help with both?
Yes. Credits work across subjects, so you can book French sessions one week and English sessions the next. Many Immersion families use us for both.
How quickly can a student improve at French?
It depends on the starting point, but most students see a noticeable difference in confidence and test performance within 4 to 6 sessions. Grammar gaps in particular can be closed quickly once a tutor identifies exactly where the confusion is.
